Frequently asked

The app didn't transcribe my recording. What happened?

Most likely a network hiccup during one of the audio chunks. Look for a yellow banner on the Capture screen that says "X parts failed to transcribe" — tap Retry and the failed parts run again. If it still fails, save the audio (the green dashed "Save Audio File" button), check your connection, and re-import the file using "↑ Transcribe a Saved Audio File."

The phone screen turned off during recording and I lost audio.

The app uses the screen Wake Lock API to keep the screen on while recording, but it's only supported on iOS 16.4+ and recent Android Chrome. On older browsers it silently degrades. Workarounds: keep the phone plugged in, keep the screen on manually, or use the dedicated TestFlight / Google Play app once it ships, which doesn't have this limitation.

How long can a recording be?

40 minutes per recording, which covers most sermons and Bible classes. Long recordings come through reliably; you don't need to stop and restart.

Can I import a recording from my phone's voice memos app?

Yes — tap the dashed "↑ Transcribe a Saved Audio File" button on the Capture screen and pick any audio file your phone supports (m4a, mp3, wav, webm, etc.). The app decodes it locally and runs it through the same transcription path.

Can I edit the AI's notes after they're generated?

Yes. Tap any outline point, takeaway, or application question — a panel opens where you can highlight, add a personal note, or click "Edit Text" to rewrite it in your own words. Changes auto-save and flow into your exports.

How do I share studies with my congregation?

In the Library, set a Congregation name. Once set, every saved study shows a "Share" button — tap it to make that study visible to anyone else who has connected to the same congregation name. They appear under "From Your Congregation" in everyone's library. Un-share at any time.

The AI made up a memory verse that isn't in my Bible.

If the AI generates a verse not found in the Biblical Standard Version, you'll see a yellow "⚠ AI-generated text — verify against your Bible" warning under the verse. Always verify against your own Bible. You can also tap and edit the verse to replace it with the correct text.

Can I delete a study, and what happens to it?

Click the × on any library item to move it to Trash, where it stays for 30 days before being permanently deleted. From Trash you can either Restore (it returns to your library) or Delete now (permanent).

Do you store my audio?

No. Audio is used only to produce a transcript and is discarded immediately afterward. Only the text transcript and your generated study notes are saved. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my account?

Open the Library panel and tap Delete Account at the bottom. This removes your account, all studies, transcripts, and congregation memberships immediately. If you'd rather not do it yourself, email support@scripturescribe.app from the address you signed up with and we'll process it within seven business days.

How much does the app cost?

Scripture Scribe is $9.99 per month, or $89 per year (about $7.42 per month — a meaningful discount for paying annually). Every new subscriber gets a 14-day free trial; you'll need a card on file to start the trial, and you can cancel any time before it ends without being charged.

Founder pricing: The first 50 subscribers get $6.99 per month for life — that rate never goes up as long as your subscription stays active.

Congregation pack: $49 per month for up to 10 users — perfect for a preaching team, a Bible class, or a small congregation. Each member signs in with their own account and shared studies appear in everyone's library. Larger groups: email us for a quote.
