Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Scripture Scribe is a Bible study app from Straight Truth Press. We respect your privacy and ask very little of you. This page explains what we keep, what we don't, and what you can do about it.

What we keep

To run your account and your studies, we save:

We do not keep your audio recordings, your location, your contacts, your calendar, your browsing history, or any data used for advertising.

What happens to your audio

When you record a sermon, class, or your own thoughts, the audio is captured on your device and used only to produce a written transcript. The audio is processed by OpenAI's Whisper API and discarded immediately afterward — we never store it on our servers, and per OpenAI's API policy the audio is not retained for training. Only the resulting transcript is saved with your study.

If you tap "Save Audio File," a copy of the recording is downloaded to your own device, under your control.

How notes are generated

Your transcript is sent to Anthropic's Claude API, which produces the structured study notes you see in the app. Per Anthropic's API policy, your content is not retained for training. The generated notes are saved to your account.

Where your data lives

Your account and studies are stored in Supabase, a hosted Postgres database provider, in the United States. Communication with Supabase uses TLS encryption, and database row-level security ensures only you can read or change studies you've created — unless you choose to share a specific study with your congregation, in which case other connected members of that congregation can view it. You can un-share at any time, and the study is removed from their libraries immediately.

We never sell, rent, or share your personal information or study content with anyone other than the three service providers named above (OpenAI, Anthropic, Supabase) and any law-enforcement requests we are legally required to honor.

Your right to record others

Scripture Scribe is designed for recording your own sermons, classes, devotionals, and reflections. If you record someone else (a guest preacher, a teacher, members of a Bible class), it is your responsibility to follow the laws and customs of your jurisdiction regarding consent. Many places require notifying or obtaining consent from people being recorded. By using the app, you agree that you are responsible for any recordings you create and for sharing them appropriately.

Children

Scripture Scribe is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Parents and guardians of users between 13 and 18 should review this policy with their child and supervise their use of the app, particularly the recording and sharing features. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights and choices

Cookies and tracking

Scripture Scribe stores a session token on your device so you stay signed in between visits. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

Changes to this policy

If we make a meaningful change — for example, switching to a different service provider — we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify active users by email if the change affects how your data is handled.
